Genome-wide Response to Glucose Starvation

This diagram is from DeRisi et al., 1997. Science. Vol. 278: 680-686. It shows how the yeast genome responded to the gradual consumption of and build up of ethanol. Notice the reversal of "normal" metabolism with the consumption of ethanol and the storage of energy in glycogen and trehalose.
