Figure 4. NCBI BLAST results comparing HIV-1 gp120 sequence against HIV-2 genome. Note red boxed homologous sequences that remain conserved despite lower e values. Probability of identities arising randomly are 1 x 10-120, 6 x 10-65, and .0001 respectively. The red boxed values remain conserved even when the remainder of the sequence begins to diverge from query sequence. Also note the large number of cysteine residues conserved among all results.
