The behavioral role involved in sex-change appears to be the primary stimulation source to trigger the physiological sex-change response. 30 years of field observations have yielded a great wealth of information on sex-change in the different species. For many species, enough information exists, that given social groupings and ecological factors, one can predict which process of sex-change will occur (Ross, 1990).
