Welcome to Rebecca's Web page about the Spinal Cord and Spinal Cord Injuries. I am a student at Davidson College in Davidson, NC, and my website is a project for my Animal Physiology class. From my web site I hope that you gain a better understanding of how the spinal cord works and why recovery from spinal cord injuries is difficult.
The 1995 accident that paralysed Christopher Reeve brought spinal cord injuries to the forefront of medical research. Scientists are making progress in their discovery of methods of treating spinal cord injuries, but at this time the research has been limited to small animals.
