Paracentrotus lividus Genes in Development: 54-kDa RNA-binding protein

LP54 (54-kDa protein)

Function

LP54 (54-kDa protein) is a general RNA-binding protein for the bep RNA family and perhaps may be a general binding protein of the animal pole.
This protein is necessary for association of bep mRNA with the cytoskeleton elements. This indicates its involvement in the bep mRNA localization process (Montana et al., 1997).

Protein

54-kDa protein (Montana et al., 1997).

Subcellular location

Western blot analysis showed that 54-kDa protein is associated with the microtubules isolated from the P. lividus egg (Montana et al., 1997).

Expression Pattern

Western blot analysis demonstrated that the 54-kDa protein is present at all developmental stages (Montana et al., 1997).
