Proteomics for High Schools

Proteome (pro'-tea-ome): the total protein content of a cell/organ/organism.

Unlike your genome, every cell in your body has a different proteome. Each cell's proteome changes over time and in response to environmental stimuli.

1. 2D Gel Electrophoresis - what proeteins are present?

2. ICAT Flash Animation - which proteins are present and how much of each?

3. Structure - what shapes do proteins exhibit?

4. Interactions - with which other proteins do they interact?
