Strongylocentrotus purpuratus Genes in Development: Cell type-specific transcription factor

SpF1

Function

SpF1 is a Spec-DNA binding protein similar to the vertebrate transcription factor USF (upstream stimulatory factor) (Tomlinson et al., 1990). USF binds the major late promoter of adenovirus, as well as variety of other mammalian genes containing the core sequence of CACGTG.

Expression Pattern

SpF1 activity is detected both at blastula and pluteus stages of development. SpF1 is active only in ectoderm cells of the embryo.
