• COMMENTS: The repetitive (G/A/T)CCCCT motif in SM30 5'-flanking region is similar to the canonical binding site for the S. purpuratus SpGCF1 protein. The representative of this (G/A/T)CCCCT motif at -1456 of SM30-alpha binds avidly to the SpGCF1 protein in vitro (Frudakis, 1995). The oligonucleotide containing this GCCCCT sequence at -1456, isolated from its natural sequence environment (oligo (C)), enhances the expression driven by the -300 to +105 region of SM30-alpha (Frudakis and Wilt, 1995).
