Last April Davidson College hosted its 8th annual Reptile Day. Student volunteers showed live specimens of many local amphibians and reptiles for visitors to admire or touch. Some crowd favorites were NCPARC's rat snake collection, the several local turle species and a menagerie of frogs. Another highlight of the day was Professor Mike Dorcas’s venomous snake talks. Several local and state conservation organizations were available to provide more conservation tips and how to get involved. The event drew around 800 visitors including many herpetology enthusiasts of all ages.
Presented by the Davidson College Herpetology Laboratory,
in coordination with the Central Carolina Amphibian and Reptile Initiative,
