Student Research at Davidson

Courtney Ewart
Courtney is researching the structural properties of the receptor for the Mouse Hepatitus Virus (MHV). Her research involves constructing and analyzing various mutant MHV receptors in order to understand which domains in the receptor are critical for the binding of MHV.

Christine Larned
Christine is working with E. coli bacteria to develop a timely and inexpensive DNA sequencing protocol that can be used in undergraduate laboratory classes.  Her research has been presented at the annual meeting for the American Society for Microbiology and is pending publication.

Erin McKinley
Erin is investigating the viral pathogenesis of the reovirus strain and a closely related family of mutants called the type 3 Dearing strain.  Specifically, Erin is interested in the unusual resistance of several mutant reovirus to ethanol.  Her work has been presented at the annual meeting for the American Society for Microbiology in Orlando, Florida.
