Educational Goals and Learning Outcomes

Why is cyanide poison of choice?

Educational Goals:

  • Learn how polymers can be used as energy sources.
  • Use evolutionary mechanisms to understand conserved biochemical processes.

Learning Outcomes - Students will:

  • describe how sugar polymers are metabolized to produce ATP
  • summarize how energy is stored in metabolic intermediates
  • use biochemical terms to describe chemical reactions.
  • compare and contrast photosynthesis and cellular respiration
  • explain how cyanide and paraquot are similar and different
  • write a newspaper story explaining why terrorists have so many options and law enforcement is limited
