GIS and Wildlife Management
Worldwide, GIS (geographical information system) is being used to solve problems associated with wildlife management. From calculating existing wildlife densities, assessing sustainability of habitat for wildlife populations, to evaluating human impact on the wildlife and land, GIS can prove to be an invaluable tool. Last summer, I was in Africa studying all about wildlife issues, so this is a field I'm highly interested in (to see pictures from my trip, go here). If you click on the map, you can see how people are using GIS in Africa and elsewhere to solve problems associated with wildlife.
