Voice: Series of grunts 2-11 sec. apart. Habitat: Lentic waters in lowland dry, moist, and wet forests and into premontane rainforests. Biology: Common semiaquatic species usually seen in shallow water around edges; active during both day and night often floating in water; sit-and-wait predator which eats variety of prey (arthropods, fish, frogs, birds, mammals); mating season is June-August.
