Habitat: Freshwater marshes, swamps, ponds, streams, rivers in lowland Atlantic moist and wet forest. Note: Often basks during daylight but most active nocturnally. Diet: They feed mostly on plant material on land but may also scavenge meats. Note: Crocodilians are major predators on juveniles and occasionally eat adults.
