I am currently a sophomore undeclared major at Davidson College from Cary, North Carolina. I joined the Herpetology Lab my first semester freshman year as a work-study student and spent the year learning about the care of reptile and amphibians and also about how a research lab operates. This past summer I studied the effect of pond type on painted turtle growth, specifically rural ponds, urban ponds, and golf course ponds. I hope to continue research on the growth of the painted turtle in relation to age and pond type. I have also assisted in the sampling of bog turtles in Gaston County, North Carolina, and in documenting reptile and amphibian species within the Broad River Basin of South Carolina. Additionally, the Herpetology Lab has given me the opportunity to participate in outreach events, such as Reptile Day.
