Cat
Kizer's Web Site on the Common Vampire Bat: Desmodus rotundus

Desmodus rotundus is only one of three species of
bat that subsists on blood (Wilson 1997). In the past these bats
have been looked upon as supernatural beings and even given godlike status
(Hill 1984). In South and Central America there is evidence of a
bat god named Tzinacan (Turner 1975). However, these bats have also
been commonly associated with evil (Wilson 1997) and other supernatural
anomaly (Allen 1940). In order to dispel the many heresies and superstitions
associated with the vampire bat, and also to educate people about this
interesting creature, I have designed this website. Hopefully, the
information provided here about this animal will allow you to decide
for yourself whether or not this animal deserves the bad reputation associated
with it. Click on the links below to read about vampire bat social
interactions, behavior, general information, and more. Please enjoy
yourself and make sure to email me if you have any comments or questions!
