Summary:

The bald eagle is the national symbol of the United States of America and symbolizes power, might and dominance. It is the largest of the two eagles found in North America (golden). The bald eagle is usually found around the shoreline of fresh water, estuarie and marine ecosystems. Bald eagles are monogamous and have breeding and winter territories. Some migrate. Bald eagles will eat just about any living animal they can including birds, fish, mammals and invertabrates. They are also famous for stealing food from smaller birds, most often osprey. Due to the chemical DDT, bald eagle numbers plummeted in the 1960's and they were placed on the endangered species list. However, they have since been making a remarkable comeback.
