Dwarf Waterdog
(Necturus punctatus)

Description:4-6 in. (11-16 cm) Coloration is just slate colored with no markings such as spots. Throat and belly are white with some blue.  Four toes on all the feet.
Habitat: Usually found in slow, sluggish streams and habitats with dense leaf litter and debris. Mainly in the piedmont of North Carolina.
Young: Adolescents look just like adults except can have some pale or dark spotting.
