Southern Redback Salamander
(Plethodon serratus)

Description: 3-4 in. (8-10.5). Coloration of body is mainly dark gray or black with a light stripe down the back.  Stripe on back is orange or reddish and will extend all the way to the tail.
Habitat: mainly found in forested areas where substrate is moist.  They hide under rocks, moss, and rotten logs.  In dry seasons are located near seeps and springs.
Habits: Feed on small arthropods and mollusks.
