Characteristics of pVP22/myc-His and pVP22/myc-His-TOPO

Besides the advantage of the easy transfection of a specific protein into the VP22 protein, the VP22 vectors also contain the Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) promoter which helps the VP22 fusion proteins have a higher level of expression than if another vector was used.  The bovine growth hormone (BGH) polyadenylation signal is also inserted into the vector because it aids in the correct processing of mRNA.  In order to more easily recognize the recombinant proteins with an Anti-myc Antibody, a C-terminal c-myc epitope tag constitutes one section of the vector.
