The summer of 2000 marked the fourth year for Davidson's HHMI summer research program under the 1996 grant, and it continued to build on the successes of the first three years. Summer research fellows began their work in mid-May 2000, and most completed their projects by the end of July or early August 2000. Love of Learning interns assisted the fellows with their research primarily during the months of June
and July. In October, a poster session and campus reception was held to showcase
the research of the summer research fellows, the LOL interns, and their faculty
mentors. A number of the students continue to work on their research during
the 2000-2001 academic year. Again, most of the HHMI summer research will be submitted for publication in peer reviewed journals in the near future.
